Giving Back To Others
A PAAP Focus
While each of our NPC member organizations has its own international philanthropy, the Philadelphia Area Alumnae Panhellenic focuses on philanthropy as well. Additionally, PAAP members unite in supporting the philanthropic efforts of each member organization. Participating in civic and philanthropic activities provides community service while presenting a favorable sorority image. There is no better way to garner public approval than through philanthropic projects and scholarship programs. With public approval, two of the purposes of Alumnae Panhellenics — to promote the sorority experience and to heighten the Panhellenic image — become realities.

Philadelphia Area Alumnae Panhellenic Philanthropy
Period Supply Program
As an organization of women supporting women, PAAP members determined it was important that we take on a Philanthropic project that squarely and unequivocally supports women. It was unanimously decided by the members that we would work to end Period Poverty which affects 2 in 5 women. This inability to purchase products results in missed school and work days as well as missed social events.
At each meeting and other gatherings, we have collected pads, tampons and Depends for distribution to area groups who support the mission of providing feminine hygiene products to women of all ages.
PAAP has donated period products to Mitzvah Circle, The Patrician Society, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, and has provided donations at drop off collection boxes at libraries and churches that our members support.
We look forward to working with groups throughout our region who have taken on this most urgent and necessary support of women. For additional information or to donate directly, please see the links below.
Philanthropy and Community Service Spotlight
Mitzvah Circle
Mitzvah Circle provides pads and tampons to every girl and woman we serve. We also partner with over 110 agencies, schools and organizations to meet the period supply needs of the people they serve. A proud member of Alliance for Period Supplies, we work to end Period Poverty because no one should miss school or work due to lack of pads and tampons.

Montgomery County
Health and Human Services
Many low-income residents contact HHS for help or our staff work with individuals and families who are in need of basic necessities. The HHS Donation Hub strives to meet these needs in emergency situations by accepting donations and holding seasonal drives throughout the year.
Basic needs such as emergency food, clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, diapers, feminine hygiene supplies, books, and coats/clothing are on hand at all times.
Our seasonal drives include Spring Clean, Summer Food, Back to School, and our Winter Drives include Coats, Thanksgiving, and Holiday. We always are in need of, and will gratefully accept throughout the year, gift cards to any store or other basic needs items through our Amazon Wishlist.

Alliance for Period Supplies
For many individuals, a period is a setback. It’s something that dictates where they can go, what they can do, and how they’re perceived. At the Alliance for Period Supplies, we’re turning “that time of the month” into a time for change.
It’s that time. To break the cycle of period poverty. To set every menstruating individual free from limitations. And to empower every person and organization to become part of the solution.
The Alliance for Period Supplies advocates
for change. Learn how.
Sweet Treats for Collegians
The PAAP members had a good time assembling treat bags for one of our local universities and their Panhellenic sororities.
The goodie bags will be distributed to collegians in May prior to finals. Community outreach is an important part of membership development and the future of the PAAP and our respective alumnae groups. We hope to build awareness in sorority women who may not otherwise know we exist, to create connections, to demonstrate that sisterhood is for life, not four years and to model lifetime involvement. St. Joseph's University has 7 sororities- Alpha Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Delta Phi Epsilon, and Alpha Sigma Tau.
Discover the bond that unites us in the Philadelphia Area Alumnae Panhellenic community. Our shared experiences and values create a network of support and lifelong friendships. Through philanthropic endeavors and social events, we stay connected and make a difference in our community. Join us to continue the legacy of sisterhood and service. Together, we empower each other and inspire positive change.
